Struggling Businesses Seeing Affects Pandemic ad on Retail Shopping
The pandemic has changed many things about daily lives for almost everybody, the pandemic introduced new social norms such as more high fist bumps instead of handshakes, online meetings, and more online shopping than ever. Many companies were able to adapt and be successful amid the pandemic such as Amazon or other major online retailers. The brick and mortar stores that sit among many malls and avenues were empty with no foot traffic to be seen for more than a year and a half.
Many major compies have seen major effects of the pandemic on their businesses but the one I am choosing to focus on today is Men's Warehouse. Men's Wearhouse for the longest time was known as the place for men to be able to dress in designer wear without having to pay the designer price tag that other companies charge. Men's Wearhouse is very similar to that of a J.C Penny in which most locations are found in shopping malls all over America. Men's Wearhouse is struggling after these times for many reasons, the first being that no foot traffic through their stores for the past year and a half but also the new way that business is being conducted in corporate America. Meetings are now on computers with little to no face-to-face interaction in the office meaning that the need for the business professional look is almost not needed.
The company is struggling to find ways to draw people back into stores after people have been conditioned to the more laid back less professional attire required by corporate America and the fact that people do not want to go to the mall anymore, the fact of the matter is that people are lazy. It is way more convenient for people to order something on Amazon and have it the next day delivered than having to go to the store risk exposure to the virus and leave the comfort of their own home.
Companies like Men's Wearhouse are going to be a thing of the past here very soon. The marketing strategy of Jeff Bezos and Amazon is way more consumer-friendly than the old-school brick-and-mortar store. The fact of the matter is that people want convenience they do not want more work than typing in what they need on the internet and walking to their mailbox the next day to pick up what they ordered. Amazon has owned the market space for shopping for the past year and a half because of what they provide which is convenience. A company like Men's Wearhouse has no chance of competing with somebody like Amazon due to the lack of demand for dress clothes and the lack of foot traffic in their stores while a company like Amazon has done nothing but flourish among the pandemic.
